I love the Canberra Co-op and shop here often. I am always impressed with the quality of all the foods. To learn more about the Canberra Co-op check out their blog http://www.foodco-opshop.com.au/blog/
If you are usure how to shop in the co- op there are plenty of signs, plus the staff are incredibly nice and will happily help you out.
You can also purchase bags there
Now onto the good bits, the food.
You can get heaps of delicious organic goodies, including fresh and dried fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, bread, dairy products, nuts, flours, grains, rice crackers, noodles, yummy raw food treats, fair trade chocolate, homemade soup, tofu…… the list is endless!
Here is a look at some of the things that caught my eye!
The Co- op is located at 7 Kingsley Street
ACTON, ACT (02) 6257 1186
Due to student housing developments they will be moving in early September, so keep an eye on their blog for more details of the new location.
Tuesday August 24th, 2010 09:08 Strawberry ice cream
Ice cream would be my favourite food, its a big call I know but not much else gives me as much happiness as a big bowl of creamy goodness!
I especially love this homemade strawberry ice cream, it is very simple and taste’s delicious.
Here it what you will need:
250 g fresh strawberries
300 ml cream
3/4 cup caster sugar
3 egg yolks
200 ml fresh milk
What to do
After washing and hulling your strawberries, add them with all the other ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth
Then pour the prepared mixture into your pre frozen ice cream maker
I have an ancient mistreal igloo!
The igloo hard at work
I prefer my ice cream to be like a soft serve, so after around 30 minutes I switched it off
The finished product!
With the remaining ice cream, I keep it in the ice cream maker, wrap it in a plastic bag and freeze it.
I doubt this batch will last very long!
